Although people tend to focus on increasing testosterone, just keeping it steady through the years can sometimes be great. It definitely bucks the trend of declining with age.

John P. shares his story.

Please tell us about your “before”. Where did you start at?

I started with pine pollen a few years ago. I have used a number of herbs over the years. Currently using Pine Pollen and Thor’s Hammer.

So I have been kinda biohacking since 2013 but have really been focused on testosterone for the past few years now that I am 42.

Do you have blood panels, other tests, workout logs, before and after pictures or anything else to upload? (Add up to 10 files)

Here are my blood panels for at least the last 6 years. For the last three years I have been using the X3 bar for my workouts and just being an active father.

No pictures really would do justice as I have basically maintained the same body comp for many years. Before kids I was definitely more shredded.

What Lost Empire Herbs did you take?

I believe my first LEH purchase was Black Ant. Didn’t notice a whole lot. The first major notice I found was with the Pine Pollen Tincture. Never had ED problems but wow. Stone wall erections from taking it on a daily basis. I would cycle it a bit but really enjoy it. Currently, I have the PP powder because of a big sale but prefer tincture.

I stopped Ashwaganda due to learning about a blunted pleasure response and not too many benefits.

Cistanche helped with my libido which is pretty large even without it.

What other supplements did you take?

Vitamin DAKE daily. Zinc Mag

What lifestyle changes did you make? This can include physical training, sleep, diet, mindset, or anything else you might like to include?

Sleep priority/variable resistance training. Intermittent fasting mediation

Please tell us about your “after”. How did you feel? Did symptoms change? Any side effects (positive or negative)?

PP gave me daily morning wood. I was harder than when I was young while having sex. Thor Hammer makes me kill it in the bedroom.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I guess I am doing something right. My diet is not perfect, I enjoy alcohol, I have young kids and a baby so I have interrupted sleep but I will continue the course

I feel the herbs have definitely helped in that area but I would like to find ways to be more in the 700-800 range.

Thanks to John for sharing these results.

Some tweaking of his herbal program along with lifestyle changes would likely bump him up to a higher testosterone level.

An herb such as Schisandra, with its liver-detoxifying components, could certainly be useful (along with the drinking).

Some of the more yin herbs such as He Shou Wu, Chaga, or Goji Berry could be the thing that is missing. People often focus too much on the yang herbs, which obviously are great, but you can’t neglect the yin.

Lost Empire Herbs Case-Study Contest

We share these case studies in an effort to build up a body of anecdotal evidence that herbs change lives for the better. While gold standard, double-blind, placebo-controlled scientific studies are great, there simply aren’t enough of them in the realm of herbs. (For example, Pine Pollen doesn’t have a single human trial.) Although case studies are n=1 experiments, not tightly controlled nor placebo-blind, they still lend evidence of things working, especially when a large number of them are gathered. For the most part, we are not interested in reductive science isolating a single variable in these case studies. The fact is nature and life don’t work that way! We are much more interested in people getting results. And that often takes many variables, aka massive action. Thus, these case studies are shared in this spirit.
