Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton are celebrating Valentine’s Day with a sweet look into their marriage.
The couple cozied up next to each other in a photo posted on their official Instagram account on Friday, February 14. In the picture, William, 42, and Kate, 43, sat on top of a blanket in the woods. He kissed her on the cheek, and she smiled as they held hands. The picture was simply captioned with a red heart emoji.
Kate wore a blue dress and tan sneakers, while her husband wore a blue polo shirt with black shorts and blue sneakers. Many people might recognize the photo as it was part of a video from the fall of 2024 when Kate announced she completed her chemotherapy treatment.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to two people I love and admire!” one person commented on the post.
“Love this so much,” another person wrote.
“The most beautiful couple!” another comment said.
William and Kate, who wed in 2011 in a gorgeous royal ceremony, have been through some difficult moments together, including her cancer battle. Kate first publicly announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery. She revealed that William had been by her side as they shared the news with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time,” she said. “It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”
An insider told Closer in April 2024 that Kate was thankful to have William with her every step of the way.
“She always knew her husband was supportive, but she has never seen this side of William,” the insider said. “He has stepped up in ways that have made her very proud.”
In September 2024, Kate announced that she had completed chemotherapy treatment in a video featuring her family and was “looking forward to being back at work.”
“Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life,” she said. “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling.”
The Princess of Wales announced that her cancer was in remission in January after visiting patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,” Kate said. “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
